• Libraries & Learners in London is open to anyone with a London borough public library card and membership of London's public libraries is free.
• You do not need any qualifications to gain access to Libraries & Learners in London.
• Libraries & Learners in London gives you reference access to many academic and specialist libraries. Click here to find which libraries are members of the scheme.

Your public library will:

• Direct you to publicly available resources
• Try to match your information needs to the most suitable academic or specialist library / libraries.
• Give you location and contact information for these libraries.
• Provide you with a formal introduction to the library / libraries, requesting admittance to their collections.

Individual academic or specialist member libraries will:

• Confirm that you have been referred to an appropriate collection.
• Give you basic help in locating collections and using the library catalogue.
• Direct you towards any printed help-sheets or other library guides.

Remember!

• Libraries & Learners in London gives you reference access to the academic and specialist libraries so you cannot automatically borrow books.
• Many libraries do have an external borrowers scheme, giving you limited loan privileges on payment of a subscription charge.
• Libraries & Learners in London does not include access to electronic resources or I.T. facilities due to licensing restrictions.
• Most libraries will allow you access to self-service photocopiers for a small fee.
