Public Libraries

There are 395 public libraries in London and most Londoners are never more than a mile away from their nearest one. Public libraries offer a wide range of materials:

  • Books and talking books
  • Magazines, newspapers and journals
  • CDs, Videos and DVDs
  • Information books, databases and electronic services 

In addition individual libraries may have:

  • Access to the Internet
  • Reading and Writing Groups

  • Homework clubs and study space
  • Storytime for the under fives
  • Sunday opening
