London has an extraordinarily rich and diverse range of museums, galleries and other heritage attractions. This includes over 200 museums and galleries with permanent collections and numerous temporary exhibition venues, heritage and science centres.

 The city is famous for its great national institutions, like the British Museum and the National Gallery, but there are also many other fascinating museums and galleries that are well worth investigating. There are local community museums, university and military collections, museums based in houses where famous people once lived, and wide range of museums focusing on various specialist interests.

Imperial War Museum The Imperial War Museum is the museum of everyone's story: the history of modern war and people's experience of war and wartime life in Britain and the Commonwealth. Admission to the Imperial War Museum London is free.  
Inns of Court & City Yeomanry Museum A small but important collection of relics of the history of the Regiments, dating from the Napoleonic Wars. Exhibits include uniforms, weapons, medals, documents, photographs and an historic set of drums of the Law Association dated 1802.  
Island History Trust The Island History Trust is a community history project dedicated to recording and preserving the history of the Isle of Dogs and the people who live there.  
Islington Museum Islington Museum is in the former Assembly Hall, next to Islington Town Hall. It has two galleries, with contemporary art exhibitions and displays on the history of Islington. It also has a small shop and information desk.
